Bike club rolls

by Bob Y.

A schedule of summer bicycle rides has been recently released by Different Spokes, a greater Cleveland gay bicycle club. The year-old club offers bicycle rides for all ability levels. The rides are slow-paced and encourage socializing. Cyclists interested in "burning up the road" can usually find suitable riding companions. Ride length varies, but they are usually short and not too difficult. There is no charge to ride with the club, although there may be a small fee to join the Different Spokes club.

Some of the Sunday rides follow the MetroParks all-purpose trails, while others use scenic country roads near Cleveland. The club also plans to ride with area bicycle clubs on their organized "patch" rides. These patch rides can attract hundreds of cyclists from all over this part of the country. The modest entry fee usually includes lunch and snacks, maps and route markings, first aid, support vehicles, and commemorative patch. These rides offer different length routes.
